Dear Chairman Perdue,
I was trying to reach out to you via your campaign website for your re-election, but I can’t seem to find an email address to reach you. I’m a Houston County resident living in Byron, Georgia, and I have some questions in regards to public transportation in Houston County.
As you may be aware, there’s no accessible, affordable, and reliable public transportation in Houston County. While I thank you for making sure that we have good roads in Houston County, I’m very concerned in regards to no movement for a public transit system in the county. The population in Houston County is estimated to be over 100,000 people and growing.
I’ve also sent a letter to you and other governmental officials in the area back in October of 2024 regarding this issue.. Here’s my questions in regards to public transportation:
- If you’re re-elected as the Chairman of the Houston County Commissioner, will you promise to make sure that we implement an accessible, affordable, and reliable public transit system in the county?
- If yes, how will you implement this system? Will you be implementing a pilot program to test this system out before it goes fully live to the public?
- If we can’t implement a full public transit system, will you look into other affordable options for residents of Houston County, such as affordable on-demand Rapid Transit services?
If you have any questions, please let me know by replying to this email. I hope to hear from you soon at your earliest convenience.
Thank you.
Respectfully,
Armando Vias
