October is Blindness Awareness Month, in which it brings more focus on the blind and low vision communities and the realities of living without sight.
An estimated 2.2 billion people around the globe suffer eye conditions that causes blindness or low vision, while one billion of these cases could’ve been prevented or is yet to be addressed.
To help the sighted community understand what I go through as a blind person, you’ll be able to email me your question(s) directly to an email inbox that’s designated only for your questions. This is separate from my main email inbox, meaning that it won’t mix in with other messages that I’ll receive.
What Can You Ask Me?
The good news is that you can ask me anything regarding my blindness. While there’s already a Burning Questions page on my website, this is a good opportunity to ask your question(s) freely and openly just by sending an email. And don’t worry, it’s free!
Steps To Sending Me Questions
- Send an email to [email protected]. Clicking the link will open up your default email client e.g., iOS Mail, Outlook, and so on.
- For the subject, I recommend that you enter “My Question.” While I can deal with no subject in messages, I don’t want to open up a message and find out that it’s spam. If you’re asking more than one question, you can customize the subject of your message.
- Enter your question(s) in the body of your email and send it when you’re done. Feel free to introduce yourself so I’ll know who’s emailing me.
Guidelines
While I appreciate all the questions that I’ll receive, pleas refrain from asking inappropriate questions about my blindness. I understand that you’re curious, and I want you to know that I take each question seriously.
