MACON, GA. — I have released the following official statement regarding the passing of my friend Joey Stuckey on Saturday, October 17, 2026, while he was on tour in Madison, Wisconsin.
I just found out that my friend recently passed away. I remembered first meeting him back in September 2023 at one of his Alive Day celebrations at The Douglass Theatre in Macon. He wrote good music, and he was part of the Middle Georgia community.
My last memory of him was when I sent him a link to my letter to the Atlanta Airport regarding restoring complimentary Aira Access, and he kindly shared it on his timeline. He then texted me on Facebook Messenger saying, “Keep up the good work, my friend your letters are really well written with respectful, but also laying out the facts.”
You’ll be deeply missed in Middle Georgia. Joey, I’ll still advocate for what’s right locally, making sure that everything is accessible for all, including getting accessible, affordable, and reliable public transportation in Houston County. I know that you’ll always be proud of me.

Please keep me, his family, and his friends in your thoughts and prayers. This is also a gentle reminder to check in on your loved ones. If a friend is going through a tough time due to grief or another situation and can’t drive, offer to pick them up for a long car ride with no destination in mind to clear their head and talk confidentially and privately one-on-one with you, depending on their preferences. If someone suddenly reaches out or contacts you repeatedly, make time to hang out. You never know when it might be the last chance you get.
